I want to start my post today with my reading from the “Thrive” Bible I’ve used in recent posts.
Love Letter from God
I have called you to the place you live to serve others in My name. Wherever you go and wherever you live, I can use you to do something significant. Every day is an opportunity for you to do My work. There are many who need to be saved, and you are a part of My great army of believers. I’ve called you to fight the good fight. Spend your days wisely, knowing that there is an enemy deceiving people. You carry with you the Bible: a weapon that can destroy the works of the enemy in people’s lives. Don’t underestimate the power of being where you are and giving what you have so others can be saved by knowing My Son.
Your Heavenly Father
When we receive Christ as our Savior, we are enlisted in God’s great army; we are His warriors, called to fight the good fight to further God’s Kingdom. Let God use you right where you are, in whatever situation He has placed you.
Treasure of Truth
Give what you have to God wherever you are, and you will experience joy.
It’s easy to over think what your purpose is. I’ve spent a lot of time recently thinking about my spiritual gifts, purpose, and what God is calling me to do. God is calling all of us to draw people close to Him. It doesn’t matter how you achieve that, as long as it brings glory and honor to His name.
What does this mean?
It means, live your life in ways that honor God. In Galatians 5:16 Paul begins talking about the Spirit vs. Flesh.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
Does God expect you to be perfect? No. That’s what grace is for. Does he expect you to try. Yes.
There are many ways that we can draw people closer to God, one is by loving everyone.
I pray that not only do you extend the love and grace of God to others this Holiday season, but throughout the upcoming year. Don’t make yourself crazy trying to determine what your calling is, or what your spiritual gift is, or what your purpose is. Our most important purpose while on this earth is to draw people to God.
