“When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord.” Exodus 34:29
Do you find yourself doing good deeds and needing recognition? When was the last time you did something for someone and didn’t tell anyone about it? It’s always a good thing when we become less visible so that God can become more visible. When we seek less attention ourselves, we allow God’s love to shine through us.
God wants us to experience Him in such a way that His glory shines through us. We are responsible for showing people Jesus in this dark world and the more we fill ourselves with the Holy Spirit, more of His light will shine through. When God’s light shines through us, it draws people to Him. When you spend time in the Word of God and by surrounding yourself with other Christians and guarding your heart you will receive more of the Holy Spirit. It’s important to fill your mind and heard with the things not of this world and to let God dwell in every part of your life, all the time.
We should always do good things so that it brings honor and glory to God, not ourselves. What good does the recognition do for us, besides make us more prideful. The only recognition we should be searching for is from our Father in Heaven.
